Building Wraps for a Landmark Theatre Location

Stonewest Ltd required a high-impact scaffold covering solution for works taking place at The Old Vic, one of London’s most famous theatres, located just outside Waterloo Station. With such a prominent and high-footfall location, the project needed to conceal the scaffolding while maintaining a professional appearance throughout the works. The result was a large-format building wrap that provided a clean, branded finish to the temporary structure, helping to protect the appearance of the theatre during the refurbishment period.

A Building Wrap Designed for The Old Vic

Because of the theatre’s heritage, reputation and central London location, the finished installation needed to be visually strong, tidy and delivered with minimal disruption.

A key feature of the project was the production of a 675 sqm mesh building wrap in a single piece. Using mesh allowed the wrap to perform well on scaffolding while providing the required visual coverage across a large elevation.

Producing the graphic as one large-format piece helped create a seamless appearance and reduced the need for multiple joins, improving the overall finish on such a visible site.

The Old Vic Restoration Building Wrap

The final act

With the scaffolding concealed behind a seamless, large-scale wrap, The Old Vic was able to keep its famous façade looking stage-ready while works continued behind the scenes.

Delivered with speed, precision and close coordination, the project ensured this landmark theatre maintained a strong presence in one of London’s busiest settings, proving that even during refurbishment, the show can still go on!
