Building Wrap Showcase at the London Coliseum

Services

Overview

Nestled in the cultural heart of London’s Theatreland, the London Coliseum is an architectural gem! When the time came for a significant restoration project, the challenge was clear…how do we preserve the grandeur of the building while enhancing its visual impact during construction. That’s where we stepped in – to turn a typical scaffold installation into a show-stopping visual experience.

Setting the Stage

Given the Coliseum’s high-profile location, maintaining aesthetic integrity was critical. The restoration would require large-scale scaffolding, but with The Great Gatsby show to debut, the building couldn’t afford to fade into the background. We needed a solution that would conceal the construction whilst amplifying the venue’s brand and culture allure.

Creative Direction

Our collaboration began with Stonewest and the English National Opera to define the creative and logistical framework. A detailed site survey allowed us to identify the most visually significant vantage points and precisely plan. We captured the building’s best angles and these formed the foundation for a wrap design.

We printed a bold, breathable 830sqm mesh wrap designed to echo the character and scale of the historic building. To bring a touch of theatre to the wrap itself, we added a vertical scaffold tower wrap, an accent that not only added height but also emphasised the dramatic tone of the project. This wasn’t just a cover up; it was a visual performance in its own right!

Additionally, we produced and installed 125sqm of promotional graphics, featuring bold, Gatsby-styled artwork. These included banners running down each side of the structure and a commanding full-width gantry banner that spanned the entrance. The visual language combined elegance with impact, inviting onlookers into the world of the performance.
