Read our latest blog by Director of Projects, Jenny Smith, and get an insider’s look into the world above the event floor! Hanging structures aren’t just impressive, they’re essential to making a brand presence impossible to ignore in a crowded venue. Whether you’re planning your next exhibition or curious about what it takes to deliver impact from above, this behind-the-scenes perspective reveals the strategy, craft and innovation that goes into every Moss creation.
“If you’ve ever walked into an exhibition or live event and been wowed by the overhead branding – those massive, eye-catching structures that pull your attention the moment you step in – chances are, you’ve seen our work!
At Moss, hanging structures are our bread and butter. They’re not just decorative; they’re essential for making a brand stand out in a crowded event space. And as someone who’s been in the thick of this industry for years, I can tell you that getting them takes a lot of hard work!
Why Hanging Structures Matter
At live events, you have seconds to make an impression. High-level branding helps cut through the noise, making sure visitors can spot stands and navigate an exhibition hall with ease. Whether it’s a bold illuminated lightbox, a tension fabric structure, or a complete custom build, we make sure every piece we create delivers maximum impact.
At Moss, we tackle hanging structures from all angles: quick, high-quality rental solutions and completely bespoke, one-of-a-kind creations. Both serve a purpose, and both require a serious level of expertise.
The Smart Way to Rent Hanging Structures
Not every event has the time or budget for a fully bespoke hanging structure, which is why we’ve developed a flexible tension fabric rental system that makes things simple. Our modular aluminium frames are designed to be easy to install, reusable, and come with premium printed fabric graphics that make them look anything but ‘off-the-shelf.’
Supplied as a “banner in a bag” system – lightweight and portable, it is produced in round tube frame with a printed fabric sock. It’s ideal for a quick and effective way to add high-level branding without the hassle of a custom build.
Some may worry that it’s just another cheap, mass-produced solution, when in reality, it’s far from it. We’ve put a lot of work into engineering this system to ensure it’s strong, durable, and visually seamless. And now, with real-world examples from events like the Event Production Show and Tobacco Dock, we’re proving just how great it looks in action.

When Only Bespoke Will Do
Of course, some projects demand more than an easy rental solution. This is where we roll up our sleeves and get creative. One of the biggest projects we recently tackled involved a huge, multi-section curved lightbox – a complex feat of engineering that combined different radius curves, LED lighting, and precision fabric graphics to create something truly jaw-dropping. I’d love to name the client, but let’s just say it was an international event that needed a serious showstopper.
This is where our experience really shines. We don’t just take a design and build it, we work with brands, designers, and event teams to make sure their vision is not only achievable but also practical and cost-effective. With our in-house capabilities including framing, fabric printing, and finishing all under one roof, we keep everything streamlined, so our clients get a perfectly integrated solution without the usual headaches.

Sustainability: The Future of Live Events
More and more, sustainability is becoming a priority in live events, and we’re fully on board. At Moss we aim to bring about meaningful change and lead the way in solutions to reduce the environmental impact of our work. Our rental model alone helps cut down on waste, with frames simply returned to stock and fabrics recycled or stored by clients for future use after each event.
Right now, we’re working on ways to track and quantify the environmental impact of our framing solutions, making it easier for clients to see the difference their choices make. We’ve already got a Carbon Calculator in place for print materials, and integrating metalwork into this is the next big step.

The Fast-Paced World of Live Events
Working in live events means dealing with constant pressure – tight deadlines, last-minute changes, and high expectations. It’s tough, but it’s also what makes this industry so exciting. Our team thrives in this fast-paced environment, whether we’re turning around a rental structure in a matter of days or engineering a custom build that seems impossible at first glance.
The demand for both quick, ready-to-go solutions and high-end custom structures is only growing, and at Moss, we’re in the perfect position to deliver both. With our combined expertise in print, framing, and live event logistics, we take the stress out of the equation, making sure our clients always have what they need to stand out.
Whether you need a simple, high-quality rental or a fully bespoke showpiece, we’ve got the tools and expertise to bring your vision to life.”
