Salisbury Station, a historic travel hub with significant architectural charm, sought to enhance its aesthetic and functional appeal. In collaboration with South Western Railway and English Heritage, we embarked on a project to revitalise the station, making it a more inviting gateway from Salisbury to the iconic Stonehenge.
Objectives:
- Enhance Aesthetic Appeal: Install visually appealing elements that complement the station’s historic architecture.
- Improve Navigation: Introduce moveable, freestanding installations to guide visitors efficiently around the station.
- Preserve Historical Integrity: Ensure that all modifications blend seamlessly with the existing structure and preserve staff areas.
Approach
Our team of two experts employed a meticulous and efficient approach to complete the transformation overnight, minimising disruption to station operations.
- Initial Planning: We collaborated with South Western Railway and English Heritage to understand the project requirements and historical significance of Salisbury Station and conducted a thorough assessment of the station’s current state and identified key areas for improvement.
- Design and Preparation: We designed brick wrap vinyl that would enhance the station’s aesthetic while respecting its historical architecture and developed sleek, movable freestanding installations to guide visitors and preserve the functionality of staff areas.
- Implementation:
- Brick Wrap Vinyl Installation:
- Expertly installed 15 square metres of brick wrap vinyl onto the freshly cleaned tiles.
- Applied heat to ensure the vinyl conformed perfectly to the existing tiles, achieving a seamless blend with the architecture.
- Freestanding Installations:
- Positioned the movable, freestanding installations strategically to guide visitors efficiently around the premises.
- Ensured the installations were sleek and modern, enhancing the station’s functionality without compromising its historical charm.
- Brick Wrap Vinyl Installation:
The overnight transformation of Salisbury Station was a testament to our team’s expertise and efficiency. By partnering with South Western Railway and English Heritage, we successfully revitalized this historic travel hub, balancing modern convenience with historical preservation.
